I have read many, many self help books. I believe most of them contain excellent advice, if you put into practice what you've learned. Many books boil down to the same thing.
1/ Do you want to change?
2/ Very important! Why do you want to change?
3/ What stands in your way (Physically, mentally, financially, spiritually)
4/ What can you do in each erea to overcome your obstacles?
5/ What do you really want in life?
6/ How are you going to get it, and by when?
1/ Do you want to change?
Easy question. My answer is a definite YES!
2/ Why do i want to change?
Here I have to be careful. I want to make sure these are valid reasons for change.
You see when the going gets tough, this will be the question you will be going
back to, to keep you motivated.
So be honest!
- I am not happy with whom I am, what I've got and what I do.
- My unhappiness causes me to lash out unnecessarily towards my family. They do
not deserve it.
- I feel tired, irritated and scared most of the time. Where has the fun gone?
- I am making zero to very little progress at this stage.
- If I'm not careful then my health will soon start to suffer as a result.
- I want to be happy, I want to make my family happy and I want to make a positive
impact on peoples lives.
3/ What stands in my way?
- Unnecessary tiredness. Most days by 2pm I feel physically and mentally tired. So I
don't feel like working towards my goals.
- Fear. I fear that no matter what I try, I will not succeed.
- Frustration. When I do start working towards my goals, I usually give up easily as
soon as I encounter obstacles.
4/ Overcoming my obstacles
- Start eating a healthy breakfast. Currently I don't eat breakfast. Avoid coffee and
start drinking water (At least 8 glasses per day). Do not binge come lunch time! I
tend to over eat at lunchtime.
- Get organised. Prioritise tasks and simplify processes. Delegate!!! Complete one
task before going on to the next (Where possible). If in doubt, ask for help.
- Keep the end in mind. Remember that most things are difficult in the beginning.
They will become easier as I go along. Once again ask for help if all else fails.
Do not give up!
